Demolition Quotes

We now have 4 quotes for the demolition of the house. This has only taken 5 weeks! What recession! Got 2 quotes from the yellow pages, 1 quote from a recommendation by the sales consultant (who said that another client in Ballajura was also having trouble getting demolition quotes). And the final quote from a friend of the brother in law's floorball mate.

So we will sign the demolition agreement on Monday. Another milestone on the way to our new house.

Electrical Plan

We have now completed the first draft of our electrical plan. Hopefully taking this to prestart will reduce the time that we spend with them and make it less painful. We've added at least 30 power sockets and 30 lights to the house allowance we probably could do with more but hopefully it will be okay.

Tile Selections

Here is our tile selections.

Bathroom

Ensuite

Laundry

Kitchen

External colour selection

Off to homebase in subi and then to the midland brick display centre..poorly set up. We then went to the austral display centre in malaga which was great and gave us a much better idea. However we found that driving around the new suburbs of madeley, tapping and stirling was the only way we could really visualise what we wanted.
Well here is the first colour selection that we made. The external brick is Midland Heritage Red with Bristile Marseille Graphite file.

The driveway will be Midland Kimberley red with a Sahara border.

Signing our life away

Well we signed the Preparation of Plans Agreement (PPA) on the 30th March 2009. It is expected to take 6 weeks to get the plans drawn up. Then it should be another 6 weeks with council for approval. In this time we will have completed our selections and prestart meeting. That should mean that we get a slab down at the start of July sometime. This all depends on us arranging for the demolition and getting out of the house by the end of June. With a 6 month build time, we should be in the new house by January 2010 - maybe in time for Joshua's 5th birthday.

Plans

This is the house plan we have modified originally it was the ultimate homes resort we've made the activity room into a bedroom and added roughly 2.5 metres in length and 1 metre in width to the original design. Our contact person with the building company let's call him Mr A has been great. Listened to our requirements came back with what we needed and then has communicated with us making the whole process much less stressful.
Preliminary plans for our new house.
