Yet another big day for us.
Started the day ringing up painters for quotes of course no-one rang back.
Then received an email from the construction coordinator.......they couldn't bend the freestyle bench top into shape argggghhhhhhh no one wants to hear this when you are eagerly awaiting bench tops (so tiling can go ahead.) I was given the option to have a square bench top in lieu of the curve..... not a good idea with the kids or even myself (i'm not the most coordinated person in the world) or that they would upgrade us to the corian which can be bent.
Our CC was able to fit me in today to have a look at the samples.... why do things like this happen when tien is away :) (it was difficult at prestart but when you already have the cupboards in and the door frames and doors already painted it is a nightmare)
Our CC and prestart coordinator were both there and were a fantastic help, they even found the glass splash back tile so I could try and visualise better. In the end I've gone with silver birch, it doesn't match the splash back as well and it has more grey tones in it, and i worry it will look silly with the licorice linea cupboard backing and also the wood floor. However it was the closest to the freestyle we pick and so I'm sure when its in I will love it.
While I was at the office I took the opportunity to ask our CC what their shut down dates were 18thdec to the 4th jan. Also I asked if they had a ball park date for the pci and she said it would most likely be the end of jan :) yippeee something to look forward to :)
After the office I couldn't resist call past the house and to my surprise the footings have been laid for the brick fence :)
4 fantastic painters were doing their thing - Half the doors have been painted, the majority of the frames have been painted the ceilings were finished, the windowsills and french door have received their first coat. The head painter C gave me a quote for painting the house and I went back and bargained with him today :) He has to come back when the tiler finishes (as the tiler doesn't like working with paint fumes around) to finish the doors and frames internally. Externally he pointed out that the colour of paint we picked for the render is very white looking and may look odd with the garage door and the eaves so thankfully he had his colour swatch with him and he has allowed me to coordinate these colours. the front render will now be smooth cream. The doors look very white but we will be having security screens in front so hopefully they will look ok.
so the panic now is that by next wed I need to choose the internal colours of the house arrggghhhhh

Hahahahahaha I've hijacked Tien's blogger (with his help) :)

Well Tien has been out of the country 2 days and soooooooo many very exciting things have been happening.

In short:
1. The carpenter has finished hanging all the doors
2. Our Front doors are on (and look magnificent if I do say so :))
3. All the shower recesses have been waterproofed
4. All the shelves are in the cupboards/WIR/pantry/WIL
5. The windowsills have all been completed
6. All the ceilings and cornices have received their first coat of paint
7. The brickies are back and have marked out their lines
I went this morning - no one was there :(. However we had had a delivery of 3 palates of bricks and another pile of sand :) and thought well I suppose no work will be completed today but hopefully monday and then low and behold I get a call from tien telling me that the painter wanted me to ring him back as he was at the house and wanted to confirm colours.
I swung by this pm and found 4 fabulous cars outside the house :)
not only were the fabulous painters there- 3 guys
but also our great SS and a team of brickies. (I'm abit embarrassed but I didn't recognise our SS when I first saw him it was bright and the kids were yelling out from the car. I mentioned about the broken brick on the bathroom windowsill and he said that the handyman will fix it :)) (I was so distracted I even forgot to ask him if we get to meet with him to discuss timelines..oops sorry tien:))
So out the front the brickies were busy measuring and stringing up the boundary wall lines :)
Our SS asked if I could bring the letterbox out tues morning for the guys to install. eek must go and buy it - tien and I have been discussing getting it but hadn't made the trip to get - hopefully I pick the right one.
inside were 3 painting machines - I almost didn't recognise the house as all the windows/cupboards/shelves/sills are all covered in plastic and drop sheets.
they had almost finished painting the first coat on the ceiling and cornices. 1 guy was hand sanding all the doors ready for painting. I'm so glad the painter rang us as he wanted to clarify that we didn't want the windowsills painted..........I think if they had painted our jarrah sills I would have cried they will varnish them instead. Also the exciting news is that they can vanish our french doors and not paint them so they are going to look fantastic. I told the painter we are having floor boards he is not going to paint the shelf ends but instead he will vanish those as well.......yippppeeeeeeee
The carpenter has finished hanging all the internal door and our front doors :). All the window sills are in place. All the shelves are in the WIR/WIL/linen cupboards and pantry.
The shower recess' have both been waterproofed.

Fixing Carpentry

Off to China today so unless Bec gets some photos, no more photos for one week! Stopped by today and found the tilers have completed the hobs and started the tiling in the laundry. He goes on holiday for one week from tomorrow so not sure if the apprentice will continue while he is gone??

The carpenter was also back again today and was starting on the shelving. Lots and lots of wood dust and chips everywhere. He had marked out the shelving and was doing all the cutting. Then I guess he fixes them. Seems logical.

Just waiting for benchtops in the bathrooms and kitchen.

Screed Done

Screeding was completed in the wet areas today. It is looking really good. Tiling may start tomorrow in the laundry and powder however they need the benchtops in the bathroom before the can tile in there. They have also placed the internal bricks ready for the hobs.
Also done today was the doors were hung. Most have been done except the wet areas which he could not do due to access.
Looks like the tiler likes a hot lunch as the is a microwave and sandwich press in our kitchen!
