Waiting for Western Power

I guess the builder could not wait for Western Power anymore. They came and installed the power and telephone cables today. For three phase power, the cable is a five core cable - wonder what the 5th core is for?? Shame that there is no dome to connect the power to. All the hard work of the site clean last week and they dig another trench. Now I understand where all the left over sand comes from! This photo is for our friends who thought that they were hard done by that one of their doors was short and they thought the builder did a dodgy and installed an extension piece to the door frame to make up for it. However it is standard for a 620 wide door.

Door/window frames

And the ball keeps rolling...just hope it does not stop. The front door frame was delivered yesterday and today the aluminium windows and doors were delivered. Also the window lintels were dropped off. They are dimet protected like the should be so must go and measure them. Still waiting for Western Power to come and install the dome. The builder has said that they will try and wait for it rather than install temporary overhead power. Must check the WP website again to see if we have been allocated a project manager.

Toilet!

We have a toilet and shed! Never before have I been so excited about #$@^. One thing I must admit is that they have placed them very neatly next to each other on the verge rather than dumping them whereever the truck stopped.

Paid the Western Power ripoff for the dome but at least I can sleep at night not worrying about somebody (Bec) running over the dome if it was on the driveway side. Now just waiting for them to come (at their leisure) to install it.

Got an email today to say that they are waiting for the dome as they want to start the bricking!! Ha! A builder pushing to get a house built! Never heard of it. Anyhow, here's a photo of the toilet and shed.

Progress payment - Slab

Also forgot to mention that the builders are very prompt with their invoices. The very next day after the slab is laid, the invoice is issued! Got a letter from our bank today stating that construction can commence! Well aren't they behind the eight ball. We faxed off the first progress payment authorisation last Friday for slab down.

Site clean!

Our first site clean up today...before anything real has happened. But maybe it is in preparation for the bricks to be delivered and bricking started. This is good as the soakwells have been installed and the excess was dirt used to level the frontyard and backyard. Just hope they did not bury the rubble and crap laying around. They have also installed a chicken wire bin and put all the rubbish in there - how neat.
The other development is the power dome...I know I said I would beg on my knees however Western Power are a force greater than the dark side. So we paid to have the dome on our preferred side (and to stop Bec reversing over the dome every 6 months!)

Soakwells

We have soakwells...well 2 anyway. They are the concrete type (1500DIA x 1200H x 50thick). They are even steel reinforced; how do I know you ask, well some of the wire is not totally sealed by the concrete. They are soakwells. :)

Let's see if they come back over the weekend to put them down. I need to take measurements so that I know where they are (and where I can put the patio footings!)

Plumbing done

Not a lot has happened this week. The rain has definitely been welcome - just light rain to keep the slab moist. Back to the waiting room whilst the slab cures and it feels like solitary confinement!

There is other stuff happening like the power issue. Western Power will look at putting the powr dome on next door's property so that it is not sitting in the middle of our driveway. Hope to get a call back from them next Monday. We signed off on the plans for the front brick fence and submitted that directly to council. Got the first progress payment (for the slab). Got thing we got our finance sorted so that we don't have to fork out that amount. Also we need to apply for a new power account. But back to the block....

Today our slab was desecrated by someone driving machinery over it. Looks like it was the plumber with a mini excavator. So another milestone on the Ultimate Plan can be crossed off. Next milestone will be bricking. Bring it on.

Notice the funky pink highlights to the photos, that is straight off the camera! Might need a new camera.
