Electrical finals Day 2; Plumbling finals

Well day 2 of the electrical finals and there is so much to show for it. They have started screwing the powerpoints into the wall and have started on the lights. We have also delivered our lights for them to install. The oyster lights look small now that they are installed. Looks like they have another day or so to go before they finish. Actually no, they have a bit more as they have not started on the termination of the fuse box; maybe they are waiting for the power meter to be installed by Western Power.

The sparkies actually took notice of the dimensions on the plan for the lights and were even apologising for not being able to put them exactly in the right spot!!!

The plumber has also come and done his job. The powder room basin is now installed. Both toilets are also in along with all the basin plumbing. All the taps and shower heads are also installed. They have rebooked Alinta to put the meter in. They can only come in 5 days so it will be at least the end of next week before the gas plumbing is completed. They also need the gas boost unit to be delivered.

The showers look great along with the taps. The vanity basins also have a chrome pop up plug!

Looking forward to seeing the front outside lights!

Electrical finals - Day 1

The builder has gone from first gear to third gear this week. Appliances have been delivered and the oven has been installed. The hot plate and rangehood are delivered but still in their box. The sparky has installed most of the faceplates. Some errors are

1. 6 switch faceplate not installed for the dining room
2. Bathroom does not have a separate switch for the vanity downlight

Bec likes the fancy 3 way switch for the front sensor. It has a sensor, off and on position. The data points are also terminated. They did find the one in the study but did make a mess finding it. I wonder when they will ask for the lights that we supply?

Saw our SS at the house today. He was there to check up on a problem with the tile between the pantry and appliance cupboard. I made an executive decision to not have the tile installed. So the SS will just replaster so that we can paint over. So hopefully the tiler was back to finish the tiling in the kitchen.

The fence was also finished by Graham from Jim's Fencing. He did install the post as requested and this looks great. He also finished off the job nicely by capping the posts!

Looking forward to more work tomorrow.

Fence started

Jim's Fencing started the removal and replacement of the side fence. They got all the fence done from the garage to the back fence. This included the removal of an old footing that can be seen i the second photo. They will come back and finish tomorrow from the garage forward including the shade sail pole.

On the house front, it appears that nothing was done today however the fencing guys told us that they came and did the shower screens and mirrors. We could just make it out through the cathedral glass. Really missing not be able to get inside the house. Also sent off an email to our CC today regarding the hand towel rail but did not get a response. Hopefully she replies back tomorrow.

Door fixtures

Hoo rayyy we had someone turn up on Friday. They installed the doors that we removed for the tiling. We have never seen the doors in the laundry or toilets so it is good to see them. Looks finished now. Especially as he also put the door handles on the doors - front door included. He also did the weather seals for the front and garage doors.

We need to check that the deadlock is a single cylinder as he has made some mistakes. The garage door should be a different handle (he has installed an interior door handle). However we are OK with this so will ask the builder not to change it.

The other mistake is that towel rings have been installed in the ensuite and powder rooms when they should have installed hand towel rails. Will do a thorough check tomorrow.

No work this week.....yet!

Well 3 days of the new working year and not a single tradesman to be seen. So no work to report. Just a couple of bikes rode around the house today though. Thankfully no damage so it might have been the neighbours who are keen bike riders.

So to keep things ticking over, we have put contracts out for the side fence. We have gone with Jim's Fencing - bet you didn't know the franchise has reached this far! We have also signed the contract for the floorboards. We are going with Karri boards (85x12) and Jarrah skirting. The patio is coming along great. They have now started the fabrication - we know this because they have asked for the second payment!

Fingers crossed for some tradesman tomorrow.

Happy New Year

What lovely weather we are having for the holidays. No work this week by the builder. Little work by Tien. We were suppose to put the cubby house back up and arrange for the fence to be replaced. However everybody seems to be on holidays. Did manage to put the 90mm stormwater pipe (conduit) down the side of the house. That was a great dig. Note to self: when digging trenches, dig backwards (not forwards) - it is MUCH easier!

And we have a number!!
