Bricking Day 8

Another fine day (weather wise) and more bricking is up. They are now almost complete with the external bricking. They lifted both the front and rear roller door T-bars into place and have completed the bricking for the rear. They should be completely finished with the outside on Monday. They have also done a lot of internal wall today. They finished the bedrooms/bathroom and laundry. Still have the family, home theatre and finishing off of the main bed and study walls. Ohh also the kitchen/library wall. So good progress and maybe they will finish on day 10.

Bricking Day 7

More bricking today. All external perimeter walls now done except the garage. They have done about 3/4 of the boundary wall. So expecting the garage to be finished tomorrow and some more internal walls done.

Bricking Day 6

The brickies were back today! We also got another load of sand and external bricks. They have now finished the external wall on the garage side, and back to plate height, 31c. They have also prepared the bricks on the bedroom side so they can get started tomorrow . Then they just have to move the scaffold to the front. They do still have the garage boundary wall to start (and finish). Just did a quick calculation on the t-bar for the garage. It is 6m long and weighs around 200kg so not sure how they are going to lift it up into place.

Power Installed!!!!!!

Well no bricking today. I think the brickies turned up and went home due to the heavy rain. They did cover up the internal brick pallets though! Bec had a thought that maybe they thought the power was connected thus didn't bring their generator so no work could happen (as the power was not conencted). The power was only connected this morning! YAY! Custom Electrics then came this afternoon to put in the temporary power box.
The one on the right is ours.

Bricking Day 5

After 2 days rest (the weekend), more bricking was completed today. All internal perimeter walls are at plate height. A lot of the internal walls are also complete. Looks like they are leaving the front foyer wall until last so that they can have access. Ohh also no power connection today, maybe tomorrow.

Bricking Day 4

Again the weather was gusting and the rain was torrential but intermitent. The brickies were there again today and got a lot of work done seeing as they had to assembly the scaffold to reach the top of the walls. They have now put all the windows in and have 90% of the lintels in above the windows. This would take a lot of time as they have also put the water protection above the windows too. So the back and front internal walls are to plate height. All the external walls are to 19c. They have done the garage/library wall and this makes the house start to look like a house when viewed from the street.

Bricking Day 3

Even though we had more torrential rain and gusting winds, the brickies were there again today. No Western Power in sight - I guess it is an occupational hazard being up a cherry picker next to live power lines in gusting winds! Had a good look today for the other end to the second power cable installed yesterday. No luck and will need to check with the building company sometime. Bec thinks it could be the temporary power box cable. We'll see in due course.

External bricking is at around 19 courses. We thought they would take the external to plate height today but instead they took the internal bricking to the same height as the external bricking. So 2:1 ratio for external bricking to internal bricking time. Going by this they should completely finish the bricks by next week.
